Swimming Lessons
Summer Swim Lesson Schedule- Our Summer swim lesson program is winding down and sign ups are now closed. Please see below for the start of our fall swim lesson schedule.
Parent/Child (6-36mo): Cost: $30 Member, $45 Non-member
This is a water exploration class for parents (or grandparents) and children. Learn to have fun in the water the safe way. Adults will learn how to safely interact with their children in the water, children will learn water can be fun. This class will deal with all levels of skill for this age range. Some children will be more comfortable than others. We will learn holding techniques, arm and leg motions, bubble blowing, submerging when the child is ready and safety information.
Preschool Level 1: (Ages 3-5 years) Cost: $37 Member, $52 Non-member
In this class your child must be comfortable entering the water without the parent. They will begin to explore the swimming basics and understand how to be safe around the pool. Breath control, cognitive swimming motion in water, floating, kicking, splashing and even submerging if and when they are ready, are part of this class. We will learn to have fun in the water the safe way. To move on to level 2 the student should be able to go under water comfortably. No goggles.
Preschool Level 2: (Ages 3-5 years) Cost: $37 Member, $52 Non-member
Children must be comfortable putting their head underwater in this class. The children will continue to build on the skills they have learned in PS 1. The skills they will improve on are breath control, cognitive swimming motion, floating, kicking, splashing and swimming underwater. The children will also learn how to have fun in the water the safe way. No goggles. .
Learn to Swim Levels 1-4 (ages 6-12) Cost: $45 Member, $60 Non-mem
Level 1:
Level 1 is for beginners who are not comfortable in the water yet. Students will start with the basics of bubble blowing, supported front and back floats, basic elements of stroke work and hopefully moving into fully submerging themselves. To move on to level 2 children must be willing to completely submerge with comfort. No goggles.
Level 2:
Level 2 is for children that willingly go under water. Front and back floats and basic stroke work are still supported in this level with the hope of moving to self support in the water. To move onto level 3 the student should be able to swim by themselves and be ready to try and swim the length of the pool on both front and back. No goggles.
Level 3:
In level 3 the student is completely comfortable in the water, willing to jump into the deep end without help, faces are in the water during stroke work, rhythmic breathing is comfortable during strokes and strokes are becoming refined. Student should be ready to try and swim the length of the pool on both front and back. To move onto level 4 the student’s strokes should be strong and show good associative ability. Goggles are appropriate as long as the student does not have a fear of putting their face in the water.
Level 4:
Level 4 requires the student to swim down the pool and back without stopping, rhythmic breathing has become second nature, body position is in line. To move on to level 5 the student must have strong associative skills for all stroke work. Goggles are appropriate as long as the student does not have a fear of putting their face in the water.
